Task 3 included 3 BMT problems: BMT1, BMT2 and BMT3. Studies of these problems were also adopted by an EC financed project BENCHPAR and were performed by the same research teams participating in the Decovalex III project. The three benchmark tests (BMT) were proposed to examine the relevance of THM processes for performance and safety assessments for geological disposal of radioactive waste repositories: 1) BMT1: the impact of THM processes in the near-field of an hypothetical repository in fractured hard rocks; 2) BMT2: homogenisation and upscaling of hydro-mechanical properties of fractured rocks and their impact on far-field performance and safety assessments; and 3) BMT3: Impact of impact of glaciation process on far-field performance and safety assessments.
